Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007

On the 6th April 2008, the new laws on corporate manslaughter came into force.  A new offence  has been created which allows organisations to be prosecuted where a gross failure in management leads to a persons death.

The new offence allows the courts to assess the management systems and practices across organisations.  This provides a more effective means for prosecuting the worst corporate failures and applies to a wider range of organisations across the public and private sectors.
